Revolution George Barna wrote a book this year called, Revolution, in which he states that people are leaving the organized church in large numbers, but not leaving Christ. They remain Christians but no longer attend church. I was one of the early members of this revolution, so I can tell you some of the reasons why they are leaving. I believe the biggest reason is because they mature to the point where they no longer agree with what is being taught. Paul said to work out your own salvation and to study, rightly dividing the Word. So they have done what Paul said and they grow beyond the doctrines being taught and so they are compelled to leave. Another reason is they are fed up with preachers that manipulated their congregations, and engage in spiritual abuse. There are many ways that they do this, but I will not go into details here. Another reason is that God is directing them to leave, because as long as they stay in the organized church they will not be ready for what is coming upon the world in the not too distant future. Denominations are run by mere human beings who think they know everything, and so they demand that their pastors agree with everything that is on their doctrinal books, such as the Pre-tribulation rapture theory. Any ministers in several denominations that study to the point of no longer believing in the pre-trib theory are kicked out of those denominations. What this means is that those people attending those denominations are going to be greatly UN-prepared for the coming of the Great Tribulation. But those who have left the church are looking to God for guidance. The Holy Spirit was sent to guide us, not an organization.
